not to be confused with Nuke Skywalker of course altho' the sometimes
vehemence of this sometime debate has a summertime given of Ground Zero
visions.
Pow! Splat! Take That!
i could start again in a small voice by feebling 'help - i'm confused'
i have a ragged impression that what began as a - in my opine - fairly
reasonable point by mr pain about the remoteness of academic
hearse-verse from the primary spout and spring of poetry has now swollen
into an engorging beast that ranges from blankets for the Balkans to
cris cheek's study to the manny-headed questions of literary theory.
with respect to theory, a simple observation:
in any scientific context theory is both predictive and subject to
disproof. the application of the word to poetry seems inapt to me.
a person, a living identity, may have as many 'I's' as exigency summons,
this does not, however, preclude the simple 'I' of protest narrative
from a valid existence.
dissatisfactory tho' the CamPo & LangPo labels are they do act as
rule-of-thumb referents in a mind-space of ripped-up maps. this does not
mean that there are not individuals within the shadows of those labels
who also evade them - I'd adduce John Wilkinson & Bob Perelman here.
anyhow, not much I know, but if I followed all the threads it'd be too
much, I trow.

david
ps agree with Lawrence Upton about the lifeboats.
