Dear List-member,
I examined many ancient Chinese high tin bronze mirrors (including
different colouring lacquerish patina mirrors, mirrors which whole or part
retain metal-colour, and corroded mirrors) in the past 6 years. But have no
find any hint for one mirror was tinned on surface.
I only find one mirror (belong to Song Dynasty) in China, and one mirror in
U.K., they looks like low tin bronze or brass mirrors, and their surface
looks seem tinned. Who can help me provide some useful information about
this for me? and who find tinned mirrors anywhere?
On the other hand, someone thinks ancient people tinned bronze mirrors
using the mixture of Sn and Hg, but I couldn't find any Hg in bronze
mirrors? If anyone found it?
Your Sincerely
Zhou Zhongfu
