Sociological Research Online invites nominations for the
Editorial Board
Sociological Research Online is an innovative and high quality journal which publishes in an electronic environment. Originally funded though the
eLib 'arm' of JISC, its Management Committee consists of representatives from the British Sociological Association, the University of Surrey,
SocInfo at Stirling University, and Sage Publications.
Sociological Research Online invites nominations for nine new members of its Editorial Board to serve for a period of three years. Nominations
are invited from sociologists with any field of interest but there is a particular need for people with wide ranging expertise in sociology and a
willingness to read and comment on articles across broad areas of the discipline. People should feel free, and indeed are encouraged, to nominate
themselves.
Nominations should be accompanied with a brief outline CV (one side of A4 equivalent), providing information about
present employment, main publications, and areas of competence and interest.
The primary duty of Editorial Board members is to review articles submitted to the journal. The journal works in an online environment and
potential Board members should have good access to email and web search facilities. The journal operates a very swift 'turn-around' time for
dealing with articles and so Board members must be willing to review articles in a not longer than four weeks. However, work loads are
'managed' and there is a large Editorial Board, and so the task should not be onerous.
Sociological Research Online is now well into its third year of publication and has a world-wide readership for articles and reviews it publishes,
and Board members also have the opportunity to contribute this.
