Jarmo,
Programs such as ProCite and EndNote are pretty irreplacable for doing
literature reviews and writing articles because of their ability to
organise and reformat a reference list. When it comes to analysing what the
literature says in relation to your project area (for when you are thinking
about it or writing it up), then it is also immensely valuable to export
your reference list, along with notes/abstracts (or even full text if you
have it), to a program like NUD*IST for analysis along with the analysis of
your data. You can specify to the bibliographic program to put an asterisk
in front of each reference, so that any retrieval of content comes with
author and date. In NUD*IST you would also set up a node to specify that
this was literature rather than interviews (in case you want to restrict
searches to one or the other later), but otherwise use the same coding
system as for your other data.
