Starting 1st March 1999, there is an opportunity for a senior 1 neuro
physiotherapist to work on a study of early enhanced
interdisciplinary upper limb therapy after stroke. This will involve
working closely with a research occupational therapist to study the
effects of early intensive combined therapy on upper limb recovery.
The study protocol is already complete and full funding has been
obtained. This is an excellent chance to gain research experience in
an award winning stroke unit, which will result in publications and
possibly a higher qualification. The post is for 31 months. The
research funding is part time at 18 hours per week, but it will be
shared with a clinical commitment (to cover maternity leave) to make
it full time. The non-research half is also based within the same
unit : North Tyneside General Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK.
