Hi Ian
Thanks for your interesting reply: I shall do my best to get hold of the
literature you recommend and try to learn more about what some of my
colleagues are doing.
But understand that osteopaths are not trying to "put things back" or
even re-align the spine. Patients like to think we do and don't seem to
take it in when I explain that that's not what we are trying to do. We
are trying to ease joint "bind" - even "mobilise" though that is not a
word osteopaths tend to use. The intention is to try to create the right
conditions for the body to heal itself - not to impose something on the
body. We try to encourage the body to adapt to its environment and so
not try to create the perfect spine - it existeth not! Hmm I could go on
but it's late.
goodnight
Sophie
