Dear sir
I would just like to say I agree with you whole heartedly with regard to the
two points you raise in this message.
1 synthesis of ideas is the more logical approach, as opposed to the
stubburn defence of a position.
2 Debate should be civilised and not personal

Subject: low back pain and debate
Following on from my addition to the discussion on low back pain
on 22nd December, I would like to point out that I am all for debate.
My current feeling is that debate which attempts to prove that
either the biological or psychological or sociological model is
superior is probably out of date. I am hoping that we will as a
profession make more progress if we are able to synthesise a more
comprehensive model through debate.
I have been surprised by the range of comments which have
followed my message, both from Dr Siff and others. I hope that a
more respectful level of discussion will follow these contributions to
the list. It does seem to be important to read what someone has
written and to think about it before replying in an off-hand and
personal manner.
Regards, Peter
