Head of JISC ASSIST

The University of Nottingham seeks applications for the position of
Head of JISC ASSIST, preferably based in Nottingham, London or
Bristol.
The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) of the Higher
Education Funding Bodies, through its Committee for Awareness,
Liaison and Training (CALT) is responsible for improving the
awareness of the opportunities that developments in communication and
information technology offer institutions. The CALT has set up a
unit, JISC ASSIST, whose role is to improve awareness across the
whole community, feed back information to the JISC and encourage
institutions to adopt services and developments funded by the JISC.
The Head of JISC ASSIST will be required to formulate and deliver a
programme to achieve these broad objectives.
We require someone with knowledge of current developments in
communication and information technology and a track record in
encouraging their deployment in the education community. A sound
understanding of higher education and previous experience in
co-ordination of an information-related programme are essential.
The successful candidate is likely to possess a good degree and/or a
relevant professional qualification. We are looking for an
enthusiastic, highly motivated individual, with well-developed
personal communication skills, and the ability to cope with a heavy
and multi-stranded workload. The work will be extremely varied, and
will involve considerable travel; it will greatly raise your profile
nationally. Secondments will be considered.
Salary will be within the range 30,496-34,464 pounds sterling p.a.,
depending on qualifications and experience. The post will be
offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of three years in the
first instance.
