> ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

> CAS was established in 1982 as an adjunct of the Faculty of Arts and
> Social Sciences, NUS, to promote multi-disciplinary research and cultivate
> a supportive research milieu within the Faculty. Research synergies are

> in the context of the complex and rapidly changing social, economic and

> Preference will be given to candidates with an in-depth knowledge and
> research experience of Southeast Asia and/or East Asia. Proven analytical
> and academic competence, an open and imaginative approach, organisational
> and teamwork abilities will be important assets.

> TERMS AND CONDITIONS
>
> The terms and conditions for the Fellowship are as follows:
>
> 1. contract tenable for one year and renewable, upon review, up to two
> years, to be awarded on a competitive basis to deserving candidates
> 2. a stipend of S$3,000 per month
> 3. an allowance of S$500 per month (token contribution towards
> housing/medical expenses)
> 4. provident fund benefits
> 5. holiday leave of 28 days per academic year
> 6. medical leave of 15 days for outpatient treatment and 60 days if
> hospitalisation is needed
> 7. one month's notice for termination or salary in lieu of notice.
>
> In addition, the postdoctoral fellow will be expected to
>
> * Present at least one seminar a year
> * Give first right of refusal for at least one publication to CAS
> * Participate in a joint CAS research project, where appropriate
>
> He/she may participate in some part-time teaching.
