Will try.
Firstly a plug. I (with some others) am running the first Wilderness
EMT course to be done in England/Wales/Scotland in November next year in
Aberdovey (North/Mid Wales). This is out of the Wilderness Emergency
Medical Services Institute in Pittsburgh. It has been run in Ireland
for the last 3 years. This is a not-for-profit exercise and infact will
cost me a weeks holiday or a weeks locum (gulp!)
Take a look at the WEMSI website
http://www.wemsi.on.ca/
Secondly, the suggestion of some on-line medical advice is excellent.
The WEMSI course has a Command Physician module that we will also be
running at the same time.
(We will be applying for PGEA/CME)
The WEMSI course teaches about Epipens and loads more - it extends the
first aider/EMT role to parts other courses cannot reach - so to speak.
The major focus is on patient assessment - so sadly lacking in much of
what gets taught I feel.
If you want any details then please feel free to email/phone me.
Cheers all :)
