Eponyms by Firkin and Whitworth quotes 80% in 1916 to 7.3% in
1918 (Its an interesting book if you can get a drug rep (Glaxo) to
get you a copy) Apparently he developed his splint in 1886 and he
died in 1891. Why did it take so long to be implemented? The
German physician A. Bier used a technique of Thomas' for aiding
fracture healing too. Do folks in A/E still use Bier's block or did that
go out with the Ark?
