Dear Colleague
Are you interested in partnership in Continuing Professional
Development for teachers? Then please read on.
SCETT and UEL are currently carrying out research into partnerships in
teachers' Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
On an international scale there is evidence that cross-sectoral
school, LEA and HEI partnerships are a vital component of CPD. We
want to gather information regarding partnerships in CPD throughout
the UK, the extent and scale and the geographical or subject
distribution of such partnerships. Recent funding decisions by the
Teacher Training Agency may have the unintended consequences of
damaging some of the established collaborative arrangements which
deserve greater support. This research proposes to survey practice
and to provide information on which policy decisions may be based.
The kinds of partnerships that already exist among schools, LEAs and
HEIs include
- accreditation schemes
- joint courses
- school-based development programmes
- work-based learning
- multi-professional programmes
- cluster-based development groups
- action research programmes
There are also examples of collaborations which include teachers'
professional associations and subject organisations.
We would like to ask for your help in gathering this information so
that your views can be included. Please e-mail us if you are involved
in any CPD partnerships and you feel able to contribute to the
research.
If you have any published or unpublished work regarding the effect of
partnership we would be pleased to receive it.
Thank you for your time.
Kindest regards
Jodie Nabb
