A peer-reviewed electronic journal of graduate student research,
published by the Centre for the Study of Curriculum and Instruction,
Faculty of Education, the University of British Columbia.
Contribution Guidelines
Educational Insights is a refereed journal dedicated to providing graduate
students a forum for publishing their research in education. The journal
welcomes papers that offer original, thought-provoking, and imaginative
explorations of curriculum theory and practice. It encourages a wide range
of voices, perspectives, positions, and approaches that enlarge our
understanding of the educational process.
Guidelines for Articles
1. Content: The journal seeks articles that are of interest to teacher
educators, graduate students in education, and practising teachers.
Articles may represent perspectives from one or all three groups. It is
particularly important that research is discussed in terms of its
implications for practice.
2. Length and Format: Contributed articles are limited to 3,000 words with
an additional abstract of not more than 150 words. The format generally
conforms to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological
Association (Fourth Edition). To facilitate online publishing, endnotes
are used instead of footnotes.
3. Editorial Process: Contributions will be initially checked by the
Editorial Board. Those that meet the basic requirements will be sent out
for blind review by one graduate student and one faculty member with
interests in the areas concerned. Reviewed articles may be returned to the
author for revision, along with the reviewers' suggestions and
recommendations. Articles recommended for acceptance by the reviewers will
be published only after final approval of the Editorial Board.
4. Contribution and Correspondence: Manuscripts should be submitted
single-spaced in an e-mail attachment in Word, WordPerfect,
or rich text format (*.RTF) to Jim Hu, Editor, at: [log in to unmask]
Editorial correspondence can be directed to Jim Hu and technical inquiries
to Henry Kang, the journal web master, at: [log in to unmask]
