Department of Historical & Critical Studies
Salary: Grade G, currently 20,413 - 22,768 pounds sterling per annum

The Art, Design, Architecture and Media Information Gateway [1] and the Visual
Arts Data Service [2] are national services provided for the benefit of the HE
community. Their mission is to provide that community with quality visual arts
information over the internet. This is achieved by utilising in-depth subject
knowledge, information management expertise and state-of-the-art technology
(these services share a Digital Alphaserver machine running Digital UNIX).
To support the technical maintenance of these services we require, initially
until the end of July 1999, an IT professional with experience in: UNIX
(preferably Digital UNIX) systems administration and maintenance; Web site
management (ideally Apache); CGI programming; Perl scripting; and database
administration. An interest in visual arts would be an advantage.
