AGENT-BASED COLLABORATIVE DESIGN
1. Research Associate - Ref CV/068 (£15,735 - £23,651 pa)
Applications are invited for the above 3-year post to work on a major
research project funded by the EPSRC under its Innovative Manufacturing
Initiative (IMI). The project will focus on the use of distributed
artificial intelligence in collaborative building design. The post is
based at Loughborough University but will involve extensive collaboration
with the 9 industrial collaborators on the project.
Applicants should have a good honours degree in an engineering or computing
discipline, and relevant practical and/or research experience. Ability to
program in Java, C++ or any of the logic programming languages would be
particularly welcome. Preference would be given to candidates with a PhD
(or close to completing one).

2. Research Student - Ref CV/069 (Fees and an enhanced Maintenance Grant
will be paid)
A 3-year PhD Research Studentship is also available to support the Research
Associate on the project. The focus of the research student's work will be
on 'Application of Distributed Artificial Intelligence in Concurrent
Lifecycle Design and Construction'.
Applicants should have a good honours degree in a relevant discipline and
will be expected to register for a higher degree.

CONCURRENT ENGINEERING IN CONSTRUCTION
3. Research Associate - Ref CV/070 (£15,735 - £23,651 pa)
A Research Associate is required for 2 years to support Dr C J Anumba's
work in this area. The initial focus of work will be on the development of
strategies for the implementation of Concurrent Engineering in the
Construction Industry, and the integration of client requirements
processing (briefing) with conceptual design.
Applicants should have a good honours degree in civil engineering or a
related discipline. Previous research experience in collaborative and
concurrent engineering would be an advantage. Preference would be given to
candidates with a PhD (or close to completing one).
