Hello Ian,
I have some information on the PARKs of the parishes of
Kirklinton and Arthuret a few miles WNW of Brampton. There was quite a
cluster of them in these two parishes. Whilst dabbling in family
history, I found that my particular branch of the Park family (or some
of its members) had emigrated from Cumberland at some time in the 2nd
half of the 18th century to an area just west of York. I believe that
their move may have been because they were tenants or employees of the
Graham family who held estates in that part of Cumberland as well as at
Norton Conyers near where they settled in Yorkshire. I don't know what
period you are interested in but I have at hand a copy of extracted
entries for the PARKs taken from the Bishop's Transcripts of the two
parishes covering most of the 18th century. If you can let me know what
names you are interested in and when, I shall be happy to pass on any
information that I can. Best wishes Pete Crowther. P.S. I was amazed
at how often the forename 'Fergus' was associated with these Cumberland
Parks.
