I wonder if I might be very cheeky and combine my introduction of
myself as a new member of the list with a query!?
I work at Roehampton Institute London as an Assistant Information
Adviser (Librarian) with special responsibility for liaison with the
School of Psychology and Counselling. I was very happy to find out
about this list!!
Two of the Graduate Assistants in the School are about to write
a piece of software which will allow them to measure the occurrence of
certain words in the text of a newspaper on CD-ROM. They asked me
whether this will in any way infringe copyright. I said that my
feeling was that copyright would not be infringed, as they are in no
way reproducing text or ideas.
I wondered if someone from the list was able to tell me if I am
correct in thinking this, or conversely whether there IS a potential
problem here.
Thanks in advance
