Project and Systems Officer
ALC: £18,847 - £23,923 pa
Applications for the post of Electronic Library Project & Systems
Officer are invited from candidates with a good honours degree and a
strong interest in IT and electronic library services. Applications are
welcomed from those who have been involved with eLib or similar
projects.
The successful candidate will be based in the department of Information
Services on the Shrivenham Campus in the Vale of the White Horse in
Oxfordshire. The main responsibilities will include development of the
virtual library and maintenance of networked information services
including Web and CD-ROM databases. In close liaison with others, the
post holder will take forward the department's vision of delivery of
information to the desktop. Flexibility is required to divide time
between development projects as they arise, delivering a reliable
networked information service, and keeping up to date with emerging
trends. The post holder will also contribute to other aspects of the
library service.
The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of Windows
NT4 operating system for workstation and server, and be experienced in
the use of HTML and web authoring tools. Office 97 is used throughout
the College and a high level of familiarity with this suite is required.
Experience of networked CD-ROM databases would be an advantage.
The person appointed will enjoy teamwork and have excellent
organisational and interpersonal skills. Self-motivation, enthusiasm and
the ability to work hard on your own initiative are essential.
Salary will depend on qualifications and experience, and will be on the
ALC 2 Scale: £18,847 to £23,923 pa.
