Research Studentship
The School of Modern Languages (German Section) is offering a research
studentship for work leading to the degree of PhD in the following
subject area:
Contemporary Austrian writing
The studentship will be available to a candidate wishing to pursue
research in any aspect of contemporary Austrian culture or society in
which literature plays a significant role. Proposals for genre or
single-author studies will also be given very careful consideration.
The German Section of the School has a particularly strong interest in
Austrian affairs, offering Austrian Studies as an integral part of its
undergraduate programme and has links with institutions in Austria.

Terms of studentship:
The studentship is available for up to three years, subject to
satisfactory progress, and will cover tuition fees and provide a
maintenance allowance (stlg5500 approximately), with a contribution towards
conference expenses or study visits abroad.
