The Department of Geography at Hull University is hosting a
workshop on "The Future of Local Governance" from 2-4
p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 1998. The workshop will be
followed at 5.15 p.m. by a seminar in which Professor
Harvey Molotch (University of California and London School
of Economics) will speak on "The Materiality of Design: How
Art and Expressivity Produce Economies and Regions." The
seminar is open to all. Participants in the workshop (no
cost) must be registered. Details of how to register and
further particulars are listed below.

TRAVEL INFORMATION
The Department of Geography is located in the Cohen
Building on the main Hull University Campus, Cottingham
Road, approximately 2 miles north of the centre of Hull.
There are hourly train services to Hull, Paragon station,
from Doncaster and York, both on the GNER main line. The
journey time from Doncaster or York to Hull is
approximately one hour. Taxis from Hull station to the
University cost approx. £4. Alternatively, there are
regular buses: numbers 5, 103 and 104 stop close to the
university.
If travelling by car, the main approach roads into Hull are
the M62/A63 (from the direction of Sheffield or Leeds) or
across the Humber Bridge (from the direction of Lincoln
and Newark). At the Humber Bridge exit, take the A164
towards Beverley, following signs to the university. After
about 2 miles take the Cottingham exit off the roundabout
shortly after the East Riding campus of Hull University and
follow signs towards Hull (approx 2 miles). When leaving
Cottingham and entering Hull, the university is about 1
mile further, on the left side of Cottingham road and
opposite the Old Grey Mare inn. Parking will be on or close
to the main university campus.
