The National Archives of Australia has been involved in the development
and deployment of a metadata set, based on DC, called the Australian
Government Locator Service (AGLS). This metadata set is aimed at on-line
discovery and retrieval of government resources (including services).
Part of the deployment process involves the preparation of a business
case for using AGLS, with the initial aim of persuading government
ministers to endorse the standard. A subsidiary aim was to present
senior agency managers with an argument for adopting AGLS. AGLS has
recently been endorsed, for use by government agencies, by relevant
ministers at both the federal and state government levels. The business
case, however, has not been finalised. The National Archives, as lead
agency for AGLS, would be very interested to hear from anyone who has
prepared a business case for use of DC, or for any metadata set based on
DC. Please email me at the address below.
