Jim--
I think this is the wrong question. The question really is: "How do we get
Webmasters to understand that they NEED librarians to oversee the
management of information resources on the Web?" In my experience, the
people creating the web-based information resources, *even if they are
working in libraries* are not thinking about metadata and what will be
necessary to provide access to their web-empires once they reach a certain
critical mass. Even those who have a glimmer of a notion that their
empires are getting away from them have no idea that there is something
like DC to meet their needs.
Of course, the associated problem is that not that many librarians know
about DC either. We've got our work cut out for us, clearly.
