RESEARCH ASSOCIATE:
2 YEAR APPOINTMENT
‘COMMODITY CULTURE AND SOUTH ASIAN TRANSNATIONALITY’
Applications are invited for a Research Associate to work with Philip Crang
(UCL), Peter Jackson (Sheffield) and Claire Dwyer (UCL) on this ESRC funded
project analysing the processes and forms of transnational identity
construction within South Asian commodity culture. The project is part of
the ESRC’s ‘Transnational Communities’ Research Programme.
The appointee will be based at the Department of Geography, University
College London, located in Bloomsbury, Central London. Starting date is
March 1st 1999 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary at RA1 Scale Point
6 (currently £17,570 plus £2,134 London allowance).
Applicants should have an aptitude for qualitative research and an interest
in South Asian transnational communities. A PhD in a relevant social science
field and / or relevant work experience is required.
