Dear Alan:
I rec'd my code-a-text demo and am very impressed. It seems you have done a
tremendous job incorporating a large variety of features into
this software. Your thoroughness is incredible.
I do have a question for you if you have a moment. As you know i am importing
newsgroup text, basically e-mails, into the program. right now i have my
newsgroup text available to me in an MS Excel Format.
1) From the help: import text data file i understand that i need to remove
carriage returns and tabs from the text, correct?
2) then i need to save that excel file as a tab delimited file so that code-a-text
can read it?
3) currently my file has four columns: body (text of the message), speaker (who
the message is from), date/time (a unix message format), and subject.
i would like the date/time and subject information preserved. my question is
should i leave them in their own columns or somehow concatenate them onto the body
text. i would like to be able to arrange/search sections of the text by the
subject and possibly the date.
thanks,
peter newman
