Dear Arch-theory members,
Does anyone know of a good reading I can assign to undergrads *without* any
background in archaeology re: the complexity of issues tangled up with the
commodity fetishism of owning archaeological artifacts? I'm seeking an
explicit focus on the popular culture "desire" to buy the past rather than
on the ethics of pot hunting, Belzoni, etc... I don't seek a case study
unless it's intended to explicate the larger issues at play. The focus of
my upcoming course is popular culture and archaeology explored through the
media of feature films.
