Qualitative Data Analysis. One of the many differences is the logic of coding: in
computer aided content analysis you specifiy search patterns as indicators for
your categories to test hypotheses and let the software perform the coding, so
that you can draw statistical inferences, where in QDA packages you have the text
and code it online, and you do not want to draw statistical inferences. Well,
this list is definetely incomplete.

I am not sure what you understand by content analysis. Content analysis is an
umbrella term for lots of types of analyses, and both packages AskSam and
Textbase Alpha deal with texts, but comparing apples and pears is not easy if you
don't know what you are aiming at.
