JOHN CAMPBELL TRUST 1999 AWARDS
Conference and dissertation bursaries and travel grants
For 1999, the Trustees have decided to offer a series of Awards
totalling the sum of £3,000.
· The first Award (the Conference Bursary) will help a member of the
information profession to attend a conference of his/her choice. It
is open to UK residents for attending a conference abroad or to
overseas residents for attending a conference in the United Kingdom.
· The second Award (the Dissertation Bursary) will help a student of
information/library studies in the UK, who has to prepare a project
or dissertation as part of their course of study, to pursue a topic
which would necessarily require a programme of visits for the
collection of information or data.
· The third Award (the John Campbell Trust Travel Grant) is intended
to help members of the information/library profession to undertake a
programme of visits either in the UK or abroad as part of their
continuing professional development. Candidates may also include a
short course as part of their programme. The Award is open to both
UK and overseas residents.
The closing date for these competitive Awards is 22 January 1999.

The John Campbell trust was established as an independent charitable
trust through the bequest of the late Dr John Campbell, an early
member of the Institute of Information Scientists. Its purpose is
to further the education and development of information professionals
through grants, scholarships, research or travel awards, and thereby
to enhance the knowledge and experience of the information community
as a whole.
