"Secrecy and openness in the EU"
Statewatch has been working on getting access to documents from the EU
Council of Justice and Home Affairs Ministers since 1994. As a result
we have built up a documentation centre containing over 2,000
documents.
In 1996 we lodged six complaints with the European Ombudsman
concerning the refusal of access to documents concerning justice and
home affairs by the JHA Council. So far we have "won" five and the
Council has had to change its practice.
WE ARE INTERESTED in organising a UACES RESEARCH WORKSHOP on:
"SECRECY AND OPENNESS in the EU"
and would be interested in hearing from anyone working in this area
and interested in taking part in this proposed workshop.
You can obviously e-mail us and you can:

or write to us at: Statewatch, PO Box 1516, London N16 0EW or
