I had intended to stay out of this fray but found Ian Patrick's email so
sensible I now wish to chime in. When I saw the initial posting of this
opportunity, I was impressed to see a task manager widening the search for
candidates into what might have seemed (and in the event proved to be) hostile
territory. Whatever one thinks of the message, I think the messenger should be
respected.
Since I could find nothing constructive in the negative emails, I can only
imagine their purpose is to keep things compartmentalized, with 'top-downers'
and 'bottom-uppers' passing in the night. Clearly that can't help the people
of Mongolia. I'd give credence to emails from 'bottom-uppers' who suspended
disbelief long enough to enter into a dialog with the task manager. If some
did and found things as bleak as the nay-sayers presume, that would be worth
knowing.
