Research Assistant Grade 2 - Ref. number R14898
This position is associated with the establishment of the UTS School of
Computing Sciences Usability Laboratory. The Research Assistant will work
in the Usability
Laboratory on research that addresses usability and quality issues in
projects being
undertaken within the area of software and systems.
Work will be varied and will typically involve conducting usability testing
and evaluation aspects of projects, and liaising and supporting industry,
university staff and researchers who use the Usability Laboratory.
A relevant degree with studies in human-computer interaction and usability
and some research experience is essential. This would typically be in a
human factors, information systems, computing, information or behavioural
science or related discipline. The successful applicant must have an
appreciation of qualitative research methods, as well as experience in
usability testing and evaluation and some project management skills.
Technical skills relating to both computing and audio-visual equipment are
essential.
Experience in conducting usability work in organisations would be most
desirable.
The successful applicant will be responsible for operating the equipment in
the Usability Laboratory and supporting industry and research teams
principally by organising, designing and conducting usability testing
aspects of projects, conducting analyses of results and writing reports of
outcomes.
The position is part-time (two days a week, flexible) for one year at a
(full-time) salary of Australian $38,057 - $41,205 p.a. and starting
preferably by early 1999.
