ELT 98: Innovation in the Evaluation of Learning Technology
27th November, 1998
University of North London
http://www.unl.ac.uk/latid/elt/elt98.htm
ELT 98 will provide an opportunity for evaluators from all academic
disciplines share their expertise and experiences in the evaluation of
learning technologies. This is an topic which is becoming increasingly
important, both academically and politically, and which has been the focus
of much ground-breaking research in recent years. With the start of
initiatives such as TLTP Phase 3, evaluation is now high on the national
agenda; this is the perfect time to take stock of innovations in this
field, report on lessons learned to date, and consider what developments
still need to be made.
A full timetable for the one-day conference (which runs from 10.00-4.45)
can be found on the conference web site. Our keynote speakers will be May
Pettigrew (Tavistock), talking about evaluation and TLTP, and David Wood
(Nottingham), describing a BeCTA evaluation of Integrated Learning
Systems, looking at ways of supporting and evaluating learning with ICT in the
future.
We also have an array of presentations, covering new methods, reflections on
existing approaches, and key lessons from case studies. The conference will
cover both qualitative and quantitative approaches, and looks at educational
and economic effectiveness. In addition to the paper presentations, there are
also discussion papers, and workshops covering stakeholder anaylsis and
evaluation design.
Registration costs 75 pounds (UK), covering attendance, refreshments, and a
copy of the accompanying book, "Innovation in the Evaluation of Learning
Technology." Registration will remain open until November 13th, spaces
permitting. However, delegates are recommended to register early to avoid
disappointment.
