Has your local group/society published any material on local sites of the
Roman occupation ?
I am compiling a database/bibliography of all the references I can find to
the remains of the Roman occuparion of Britain, which will be published
on-line. I hope to get the initial pages of the site up by the end of
September and already have a great deal of material culled from journals
such as Britannia, Current Archaeology, CBA and BA reports etc.
What I'm lacking is details of relevant serial or occasional publications
by local historical/archaeological societies. To me these are just as
important as mainstream academic research but are too frequently
overlooked.
If your society has published _anything_ relating to a local site of the
Roman occupation of Britain I would like to include it in the bibliography.
If you can't get the information into digital format - no matter, - send it
to me by conventional post, I can scan it easily enough. - I'll send yu my
postal address by private email on request.
If possible information should be in the format; -
1. Title of article or report
2. Author(s)
3. Title/Name of publication plus volume/issue number (if any)
4. Date of publication
5. Name of Society (and publisher if appropriate)
but if you already have a printed list of your society's publications that
will suffice.
I shall be pleased to include whatever details you wish about your society
on the website and the whole site will eventually be downloadable as a .zip
file in html and possibly also dBase IV format for the bibliography. (Other
formats such as plain text, CSV/Paradox format I can make available on
floppy disk).
Please help if you can - there is no deadline of course, the site will be
subject to significant periodic amendment in the first few months of it's
life and I'll post a message here as soon as the site is on-line.
Regards
Eric
