Dear Konrad,
Some help with Giovio's sometimes bizarre Italian can be
found in first two vols, ed. by G. G. Ferrero, of Pauli
Iovii opera, Rome: Societa' Storica Comense and Istituto
Poligrafico dello Stato, 1956 and 1958. There is a glossary
of expressions at the end of the vols, not available here
in Exeter alas; the coverage is patchy, but you might be
lucky.
