Dear friends and colleagues,
Being under heavy worldly pressure to develop activities outside my usual
non-profit ivory tower, I have recently begun to discuss with some contacts
in the non-academic cultural sector the eventual potential of several
projects, one of them being a broadcasted Year 2000 Lectura of Dante's
Commedia, with a reading of each canto (in German translation), introducing
and/or interspearsed comments, and accompanying website and printed
materials (no Dante T-shirt, though, if my word still carries any weight).
As far as I and my contacts know, a broadcasted Lectura Dantis has not yet
been undertaken in German (for good reasons, I presume), whereas in Italy
it was already done at least once or even twice. I know of Vittorio
Sermonti's Lectura Dantis produced and broadcasted by Rai Tre and then
published in revised printed form by Rizzoli (1988, 1990, 1993), and I have
heard from a friend whose memory is very vague that there was also another
(he insists that it was not Sermonti's) Lectura Dantis broadcasted in
Italy during the 80ies. Since I would be interested to learn more about
these and about similar projects in the past, present or future, and to
study some of the available materials (transcripts and, where possible,
audio recordings), I would greatly appreciate all infos and pointers that
you can supply.
Many thanks in advance,
Otfried
