Senior Research Fellowship at the Plymouth Engineering Design Centre,
University of Plymouth, Devon, UK
Salary circa 21,000 pounds sterling per annum.
A career opportunity exists for a post-doctoral researcher within the
Plymouth Engineering Design Centre (PEDC) at the University of Plymouth.
The PEDC is a leading research centre investigating the integration of
advanced evolutionary and adaptive computing technologies with the
engineering design and manufacturing processes. Although the main area of
research involves evolutionary and adaptive search, exploration and
optimisation other computational intelligence technologies such as fuzzy
inference and intelligent agents now play a significant experimental role
in developing systems.
The post is a senior research career position fully funded, initially, for
four years by the University. The successful candidate will be expected to
bid for Research Council funding and to establish their own area of
research relative to the overall PEDC mission statement and to play a
significant role in the further development of the Centre's research
activities and management. Much of the research at the Centre is
problem-oriented and significant collaboration is maintained with major
industrial groups. An ideal candidate would therefore
be an engineer with significant experience of adaptive computing
technologies and a desire to apply such technologies within complex
real-world engineering problem domains.
