SALARY: £14,581 - £16,052
RESPONSIBLE TO: IT Manager
1 Lauder College
Lauder College is a Further Education College, incorporated under the
Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 1992 and governed by a Board of
Management with members drawn from the local business community and from
College staff. The College is funded through grant-in-aid from the
Scottish Office Education Department and receives other income through Fife
Council, employers and local enterprise companies throughout central and
southern Scotland, the European Social Fund, the European Regional
Development Fund and other partnership arrangements and contracts both
nationally and within the community.
2 IT Services
IT Service provides a high quality response enabling all users and
potential users to benefit from the considerable investment in IT and AVA
provision. The Service informs Senior Management of current and future
trends in IT, manages the College networking system(s), and provides an
information resource for all users wishing to access IT provision. It also
devises and manages systematic repair and maintenance programmes and
centrally co-ordinates all legal requirements resulting from IT usage.
The Service is led by the IT Manager who provides the link between the
strategic management and tactical operation and is supported by a
Telematics Development Engineer, Network Engineer and IT Service Supervisor.
3 Job Purpose
To provide an effective production of Web based course material to
curriculum groups/services throughout the College.
4 Job Activities
The postholder will carry out the following duties:
(i) Design and produce hypertext learning materials using web design
application software.
(ii) Design and produce forms and documents required by Intranet system.
(iii) Assist in setting up templates and producing guidelines to improve
standardisation within the College.
(iv) Production of material in medium other hypertext, eg over-heads,
videos and CD Roms.
(v) Undertake general administrative duties as required.
(vi) Any other duties arising and pertaining to the post.
5 Requirements
(i) Ideally the postholder should be educated to HNC/SVQ level III or
equivalent in an electronic publishing field, together with 2 years
experience.
(ii) Effective communication skills, enthusiasm for the task, a high
degree of flexibility and the ability to use ones own initiative are
essential.
(iii) Excellent word processing and keyboarding skills, including a sound
knowledge of HTML, CGI Scripts are essential.
6 Terms and Conditions of Service
(i) Hours of work - The standard hours of work are 36 per week to be
working within a framework as follows:
Monday - Thursday 8.00 am - 9.00 pm
Friday 8.00 am - 5.00 pm
Saturday 9.00 am - 5.00 pm
Staff may be required to work 2 evenings per week as part of the normal
working week.
(ii) Salary - The salary for this post is Scale Points 23 - 26, currently
£14,581 - £16,052 per annum.
(iii) Annual leave - The annual leave entitlement is 21 days rising to 26
days after 5 years service. In addition, there is an entitlement to 13
public/single days, designated by the Board of Management.
(iv) Superannuation - Each member of staff has the option to join the
Local Government Superannuation Scheme (administered by Fife Council) or to
make personal pension arrangements. If a member of staff does not take up
or is not qualified to take up either of these options, contributions to
the State Pension Scheme will be deducted from salary.
(v) Other Matters - Other terms and conditions of service are in
accordance with the agreements made by the Lauder College Joint Negotiating
Committee for Support Staff and adopted by the College Board of Management.
(vi) Training and Development - As an accredited Investor In People we are

(vii) The College reserves the right to relocate, redeploy or transfer
staff either permanently or temporarily as required.
