Dear Enquirer,
Perhaps you might like to include some of the works of
O.Douglas - such as "Pink Sugar", or "The Day of Small Things" - or even
more to the point "Taken by the Hand".
"Seven for Edinburgh" ( I can't remember the author) also includes a view
of marriage which is quite outmoded now.
Current work I would include "A Working Mother" by Agnes Owens - a
Glasgow writer who has published with Kelman and Grey in Lean Tales.
And a similarly gloomy picture she paints too.
She would give a true ethnic contrast to most of the other women writers
which might be recommended.
