An important text in the area of women's writing in general (which
includes a lot of material relevant to this specific issue) was _The
New Portuguese Letters_, by Maria Teresa Horta, Maria Isabel Barreno
and Maria Velho da Costa. (It is available in English translation,
published by Readers International, London and Columbia, Louisiana,
in 1994.) This text became an international cause celebre in the70s,
when the authors were put on trial in Portugal for publication of
offensive and pornographic material. After the Portuguese revolution
of April 1974 they were acquitted. The text itself implicitly
questions the patriarchal assumptions of not only the
pre-Revolutionary regime but also those of the anti-government
movements which were to bring about the downfall of the regime
shortly after the original publication of the text in 1973.
I hope this is useful,
