thankyou John
Our protocols state... (I will just concentrate on the trauma aspects of the
drug)
History (Nubain indicated)
Assess Patients Status
O2 and N2O2
Manage bleeding and fractures
Take BP
Cannulate ecg I, II & III Ensure BP>80mmHg
Titrate Nubain
and then it goes on to determine further administration.
The problem is the bit where it states O2 & N2O2. We can't give N2O2 to
people with head injuries and as this preceeds Nubain we therefore can't
give Nubain to anyone with a head injury.
I need to know when a head injury is bad enough to be a contra-indication
for Entonox & Nubain. I have asked this question on another mailbase and the
nearest we can come up with so far is that if the person is able to self
administer Entonox then one can give Nubain as there is no <LOC.
I need evidence to support the need to withhold Entonox and Nubain from a
patient with and apparent minor head injury to relieve moderate to severe
pain from fractures.
