There's a number of people working on Cosimo tangentially, that is, on the
culture, politics and art of Cosimean Florence. You might want to have a
look at the three sessions I have organized for the forthcoming meetings
of the Renaissance Society of America (UCLA, March 1999), or the one
session at the forthcoming Sixteenth Century Studies Conference (Troonto,
October 1998). They are all focussed on Cosimo I and Florence during his
reign.
If you need names of scholars, you might note, among the many,
Laura Hunt, dooing a doctoral dissertation on Antonio Guidotti, Cosimo's
agent in England; Gabrielle Langdon, working on Florentine portraiture at
the time of Cosimo; Victorai Kirham, also a "Cosimean", and mothers. You
might also kep in mind Sheryl Reiss, who works on Clement VII but is also
very knowledgeable on Cosimo I.
