There used to be an old recording of highlights from the Commedia, produced
on 33rpm LP records by Fonit Cetra. This doesn't seem to be available now
in CD or cassette --- unfortunately, the "talking book" on cassette has
never taken off commercially in Italy. I wonder why.
Carmelo Bene read some passages (Francesca, Ulisse ... ) in public to
commemorate the victims of the Bologna railway station massacre. This came
out on cassette from a firm called CGD, with the serial number 30 CGD
20283, but again the commercial distribution seems to have been limited.
Isn't there a recent Gassman reading of the Inferno on video, available as
a set at a rather high price?
A French company advertises the whole Commedia in French, read by Jacques
Roland, for 169 francs per canticle or 338 FF the lot. The coplete version
on 9 cassettes lasts 13 hours and 15 seconds. Postage 30 FF in Europe, or
30 FF plus 10 FF per title outside Europe. The address is:
