I've got to do a talk on Nurse practitioners in general, and ENPs in
particular. I've read the "core" of usual articles on teh subject, but
would be very interested in people's personal experiences of Emergency
Nurse Practitioners at work in their departments....
Good thing / bad thing ?
Expensive option / Cheap option ?
Good / Bad / Indifferent effect on waiting times ?
Allows reduction (or at least slower expansion of) medical staff ?
Encourages or discourages misuse of A&E by "inappropriate" (that old
chestnut again) attenders ?
I would like to hear from Docs, Nurses, Paramedics, GPs on the subject.
There was a lively discussion at BAEM this year on the topic of ENPs
(lecture provocatively entitled "What will the Doctors do?"), but very
little hard evidence.
