Bruce,
Your message was forwarded to me, alas last June, so you may by now
have
received all the information you need. I am in the process of cataloguing
my collection of Droitwich research material covering a number of fields,
the
spa and brine baths is only one of them, and it is a long time since I've
looked at this material. I did come across three publications that may
be of interest: 'Spas that Heal' by William A.R. Thomson published in
1878'; 'The Droitwich Natural Brine Baths' by J.H. Hollyer published in
1926; and I presume you know of the Spas of Great Britain', the official
handbook of the British Spas Federation c. 1930. As you say the Royal
Brine Baths opened the first hydrotherapy establishment in 1836 and
St.Andrews Brine Baths was opened by John Corbett some 50 years later.
There is now only one brine baths at Droitwich run by GM Health Care
Ltd. in London. St.Andrews closed down some time ago. I have a lot of
other material which is mostly unpublished but have not yet waded through
it. To the best of my recollection I have little on Highfield Hospital
and Oaklands, though I am familiar with both. If you have some specific
question and can indicate the orientation of your research perhaps I can
perhaps be more helpful.
I have not contributed to the 'wells and spas list' before, so hope this
message reaches you.
