EEVL Millionaires!
EEVL today celebrates the 1,000,000th hit on its Web site
at http://www.eevl.ac.uk/
EEVL (the Edinburgh Engineering Virtual Library) provides
a suite of services which together make it *The* UK gateway to
quality engineering information on the Internet.
Some recent comments about the site include:
"EEVL is without question my top site. Amongst its features is a
brilliant search facility, leading to thousands of useful engineering
web pages." (Kate Bellingham, President of Young Engineers, and
Tomorrow's World presenter)
"...this is a model example of how such sites should be."
(Kevin O'Donnell and Larry Winger in their book "The Internet for
Scientists")
"*tremendous* resource for information in all fields of engineering!"
(NSF Library Newsletter)
"EEVL continually astonishes me by how good it is, and the excellent
new features that keep being added. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!" (Mary A
Axford, Reference Librarian, Georgia Institute of Technology)
"This could be the best manufacturing- and engineering-related site
for finding stuff for our world on the WWW. Linkapolooza." (Modern
Machine Shop Online).
The site has received a number of awards: it is a Scout Report
Selection, its first service was chosen as Best New Site by
Information World Review, it won a Library Hi Tech award for being one
of the Best Library Related Web Sites, it is a Hotlink in The
Engineer, a New Scientist-Planet Science Hotspot, and it is rated
Five Stars by both the sci.engr List of WWW Sources and Anbar Civil
Engineering.
The salaried and volunteer staff at EEVL thank all users for their
support and have decided to celebrate by adding a liberal supply
of...what else...millionaires shortbread to their afternoon tea.
EEVL, is funded through the Joint Information Systems Committee's
Electronic Libraries Programme (eLib)
