********** CALL FOR NOMINATIONS **********
This note is a formal call for nominations for participation in the next
Dublin Core Workshop. The message describes:
- the general goal of the workshop,
- nominating procedures,
- who should participate, and
- deadlines.
*** THE WORKSHOP:
The Sixth Dublin Core Metadata Workshop will be held Novermber 2-4 in
Washington DC. The focus of the meeting will be promoting
interoperability among Dublin Core applications and other closely
related metadata sets. The agenda will include reports from the field,
as well as discussion of progress by working groups, including the DC
data model, DC in multiple languages, Relation, Format and Type, and
User Guide.
The goal of this meeting will be to promote interoperability among
Dunblin Core applications using the conventions of the Resource
Description Framework and to identify solutions to the impediments to
such deployment.
DC-6 is cosponsored by OCLC and the Library of Congress, with support
from the National Science Foundation and the Coalition for Networked
Information.
*** NOMINATING PROCEDURE:
The organizing committee is accepting self nominations and nominations
of others for participation.
Nominations should be sent to:

DC-6 NOMINATION: <nominee's-name-here>
Nominations should include (on separate lines to reduce transcription
errors):
- Name of nominee
- E-mail address of nominee
- Affiliation of nominee
- Contact information (phone/fax/surface mail)
A sentence or two describing the expected contribution of the
nominee, including any of the following:
- an area of expertise,
- experience with implementations
- planning or policy responsibilities for metadata implementation
- representation of a stakeholder community
*** WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE:
Please note that this is NOT an educational workshop. Attendees are
expected to bring to bear expertise and experience with resource
description and/or policies and planning for resource description
systems and methodologies. Nominations from any field are welcome,
including libraries, museum informatics, publishing, commerce,
networking specialists, archives, and specific content domains.
*** DEADLINES:
Deadline for nominations: SEPTEMBER 4 (but sooner is better)
Invitations issued: SEPTEMBER 11
Registration deadline: OCTOBER 11
Registration fees will be approximately $250 USD, payable at the time of
registration.
