British Expatriates in Global Financial Centres
(Principal Investigator: Dr Jonathan V. Beaverstock)
Applications are invited for this two-year post available from 1 October
1998, or as soon as possible thereafter. The project is funded by the
Economic and Social Research Council's Transnational Communities Programme
and will investigate the cultural and working experiences of British
expatriates employed in a range of advanced producer services in New York
City and Singapore.
Candidates will ideally hold, or be about to obtain, a PhD in a suitable
Social Science discipline. An interest in migration, producer services,
world cities and knowledge of qualitative research methods, and experience
of overseas fieldwork will be an advantage. For informal enquiries contact
