Further to Lorcan Dempsey's comment on 'Information Ecology', you might like
to look at a second interview with Thomas Davenport available on the web
commenting on another of his recent books, 'Working Knowledge ; How
organisations manage what they know' (Guess what THAT's about). There he
says fairly much unprompted that librarians have been doing knowledge
management all along; he and his co-author Laurence Prusak have admiration
for librarians and their role in KM. Look at
http://www.brint.com/km/davenport/working.htm
He goes on to talk about possible changes in the way librarians work -
something covered in a forthcoming LA publication - but the same theme comes
across as in the CAUSE/EFFECT interview. We need more champions like
these - people who espouse the librarians' skills to a management
audience!!!
