I'll make the first comment myself (I spotted this after
we closed discussion on the working group list - sorry).
Proposal:
I suggest that the phrase "in two dimensions" be deleted
from the definition of "image".
Rationale:
There are many "3D" images becoming available in digital
media. In the case where these are "static" - ie they
cannot be modified by a client except for the viewpoint -
they are effectively still genre "image".
Discussion:
There are obvious overlaps with
Type="data" - for cases where the "image" is generated
from "data", but if the object is served to the
client in some visual rendition then "image" is OK
Type="interactive" - for virtual worlds, but not
really if the _object_ rather than the viewpoint
cannot really be changed, and in the case of
static vrml scenes, it could be argued that they
are purely descriptive and the "interactivity" is
provided by the client
Type="physical object" - for non-electronic 3D things -
here I think that the digital/non-digital distinction
is sufficient.
