If you remember, last year we corresponded on the various reports of a
European Commission funded project investigating standards for access to
cultural heritage information on-line. At long last, CEN/ISSS, a recently
established initiative in CEN, is creating a workshop to take this work
further and actually to start a European standards activity. The frequency
of meetings is expected to be quite low with much of the intervening
activity being carried on electronically (indeed there is no obligation on
registered participants to attend any meeting). The first meeting of this
workshop, dubbed WS/CHOL, will take place on 27th July 1998 in the
afternoon at Churchill College, Cambridge as part of the EVA summer school.
You will find details of this workshop at the ISSS Web site
(http://www.cenorm.be/isss/Workshop/CHOL/welcome.html). Members of ISSS
workshops are required to register (there is no charge) and a registration
form can be filled in at this site. This enables the secretariat to
maintain a register of participants and an associated e-mail distribution
list.
I am aware through our previous contact that you are associated with a
number of mail lists. May I ask a favour please. We are keen that
this workshop gains as much exposure as possible so that we may attract a
wide participation. Would you be prepared to forward this message to any
list that you feel would be appropriate? If anyone has any queries
relating to this workshop, I would, of course, be only to happy to respond.
Thanks and kind regards
Chris Makemson
