I am looking at inventories and expenses relating to Easter Plays in the Colosseum in the 1490s. Could someone tell me what Caiaphas's brocade "cacamauro" (Uno cacamauro de imbroccato per Chaifas) would be? And what kind of German cloth "panno tedesco" is? And "de amascio" in the "veste di Christo damascio [elsewhere de amascio] incarnato nova, foderata di pelle" is. The outfit is his flesh-coloured body-suit, I think, but I don't think it is damask.
Many thanks,
Nerida Newbigin
